Entertaiment is a form of entertainment that includes the activities, such as watching movies and television, playing video games or board games, listening to music and going to concerts, reading books and magazines, or participating in sports or other physical activities for enjoyment and relaxation. It also involves observing or creating visual art. The word entertain is derived from the Medieval Latin intertenere, which has its origin in the Indo-European root ten, meaning to hold inside. This is in reference to holding a subject matter for long enough to keep an audience interested.
According to Bates and Ferri (2010), Entertainment is an objective activity that encompasses communication between text and audience, requires an external stimulus, offers pleasure, and involves a passive audience.
