Entertaiment is a broad and evolving category of human activity. The experiences that we now think of as entertainment can be adapted to almost any scale, from the individual who selects an appropriate private entertainment for himself from a now enormous variety of pre-recorded products; to the dinner party suited for two; to a festival or religious pageant; and even to global performance intended for thousands. The word has become strongly associated with amusement, so that one not unusual information of the idea is a sense of fun and laughter, although many entertainments have a serious purpose, such as satire for instance.
