Entertaiment is anything that entertains or amuses. It can take many forms and range from a private entertainment that a person selects for his or her personal amusement, such as a film or piece of music, to a ceremony, celebration, religious festival or satire intended for a wide audience. It can also be an activity, such as playing a game, sports or a musical instrument; or a profession or career such as acting, dancing or singing. The word derives from the Medieval Latin inter tenere, with the prefix inter meaning “inside” and the suffix tenere meaning to hold inside.
